The students were very excited to attend their first orientation session this afternoon. They were divided into different groups and allocated to teachers they will be having next year. The subjects ranged from art, music and drama to maths and science. By all reports they had an exciting day and they are looking forward to having a go at all the subjects.
We also began work on our recycling campaign today with a visit from Lucy Wilson, from Lismore Resource Recovery Centre, who helped us conduct a recycling audit of the school’s bins. Our findings confirmed the need for a recycling campaign at the school. We brainstormed ideas for how to change student behaviour and came up with a number of strong strategies, including our “think before you throw” rap, which we began recording today. Our next challenge is how to change the behaviour of the teachers at our school!
