In maths this week we have been using last week’s exploration of long multiplication and applying it to calculate area. The students were challenged to find the total area of the visible concrete at the school. It was a comprehensive measurement task that involved dividing up compound shapes, rounding decimals and converting units.

In English we have continued to record evidence for and against Ned Kelly. Next week we will begin debating either side of the topic to prepare ourselves for the Valley of small Schools’ debate.

The students were fascinated by our excursion to Lismore Resource recovery centre¬†this week and we will use much of what we learned to further refine our waste disposal systems at the school.¬†Our guide on the excursion was very impressed at the quality of questions and the level of understanding that our students demonstrated. Let’s hope we can use that knowledge to make a real difference to recycling at our school!
